Vernon Looks For Funds For Sister City In Japan - Cheques can be mailed to City of Vernon

The City of Vernon is appealing for funds to help its sister city in Japan. Although communication with Tome has been difficult over the last week, it is known that residents are alive and safe. However there is no power or gas and water and food is said to be in short supply. Those wishing to aid Tome are being asked to drop off or mail cheques to: City of Vernon, 3400 - 30th Street, Vernon, BC, V1T 5E6
For those wishing to donate funds for immediate aid to areas impacted by the earthquake and tsunami, they are asked to contribute to relief funds set up by the Salvation Army, Red Cross or other reputable humanitarian associations.
