The city of Vernon will seek help from the province to end a local governance logjam. Mayor Wayne LIppert will be in Victoria next week to speak with Community Minister Ida Chong about ongoing governance squabbles such as the voting structure. He says " But also to ask her to put in some time lines on withdrawals and reviews.." Lippert says its frustrating some service reviews have been going on for five years. He says some have 'timed-out', meaning the process has to start all over again, which he calls a waste of taxpayers money.
