Three separate hotel chains are eyeing property, north of Vernon's Lake City Casino, for a possible multi-million dollar development. City planner Dale Rintoul says there have been informal talks for the past year and the companies are still in negotiations with land owners. He refused to name the chains although did confirm they have hotels in other parts of the Okanagan. He says the planning department expects at least one development permit application to come forward this year. Meanwhile, Rintoul says the Holiday Inn on 32nd Street has been granted a development permit for a free standing building, across from the Toyota dealership, but a building application has not yet been submitted.
