The Vernon Vipers have won their third straight Doyle Cup. They've also qualified for their third straight trip to the Royal Bank Cup tournament, and are the two time defending national champs. Team captain and Vernon native Dave Robinson scored the winner 13:53 into the third period and Adam Thompson added an empty netter with 19 seconds left in a 4-2 win over the Spruce Grove Saints in Alberta Sunday night. The Vipers won the series 4 games to three. It was the second straight year the Vipers have beaten the Saints in seven games in the Doyle Cup, although last year Vernon won the series at home. The Vipers will be the Pacific reps in the national junior A championship tournament in Camrose Alberta starting Saturday. Among the other teams are the host Camrose Kodiaks and the Wellington Dukes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. La Ronge and Portage were playing in game 7 of the Anavet Cup Sunday night to decide the West berth (Saskatchewan-Manitoba).
