City Council Wants to Know The Community Is Being Cared For - Fury Tells Council They're Working On Solutions at VJH

The Health Services Administrator at Vernon Jubilee Hospital says she understands city council wants to know that the community is being cared for.  Pat Furey was before council Tuesday morning.   She says there's no question they have capacity challenges, but on any given day they have 20 to 30 patients who should be in residential care or at home with support.  She says when the new tower opens, there will be 55-thousand square feet of space in the existing building.  Furey says the long term solution is to be proactive, not reactive and helping people to stay in their homes as long as possible.  Vernon Council asked for the meeting after presentations from doctors and nurses.  Furey says it is not uncommon for health care workers to go public with their concerns and they have a great deal of respect for the doctors and nurses.  She says council wants to know that the population is being cared for.
