Twenty RCMP officers have taken down an alleged family-run marijuana grow operation in Falkland, using a helicopter and dog team in the operation. Police say officers from the Southeast District and North Okanagan detachment moved onto two properties Tuesday, one in the 3300 block of Highway 97 and a second in the 3900 block of Keller Road. Police say over 2200 pot plants were seized, as well 10-thousand dollars and trafficking paraphernalia. Five people have been arrested, including a 78-year-old man and his 75-year-old wife, two other men and a woman, all relatives. Mounties say the group is from Falkland except for one man from Enderby. The three oldest people have so far been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and production. Police say they are recommending charges against the others. The investigation took a month to complete.
