Greyhound bus spooked by moose

A Greyhound bus driver hoping to avoid a moose veered into a slough early Wednesday morning.  The Clearwater RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Hwy 5 on July 22, involving a Greyhound bus going off the highway after encountering a crossing moose.   The Clearwater RCMP received the report of the collision approximately 25 km south of town at around 4:30 a.m.  "All passengers and driver were able exit the bus with one passenger suffering a fractured limb with minor injuries only to a small number of other passengers," says RCMP Cpl Chris Newel.  The bus remained upright in about five feet of water, with all occupants making it off the bus safely to await emergency crews.   The highway was closed temporarily, for short period and is now fully re-opened.  The Clearwater RCMP are continuing their investigation into the collision.  While RCMP say it is unclear at this time whether the animal was actually hit or the driver avoided it, the carcass of a moose was reportedly spotted at the scene.
