NORD Salaries Down

Staff salaries at the North Okanagan Regional District (NORD) declined for a second year.  Taxpayers footed a bill of 5.1 million dollars for the government employees, down 400-thousand from 2009.  Board chair Herman Halvorson says there's a reason for the decrease.  "We've been reducing services and trying to pull back services, so hence, we don't need as much manpower so we're trying to do it leaner and meaner for lack of a betterworkd."  25 NORD employees were paid 75-thousand dollars or more, led by now retired administrator Greg Betts at 176-thousand dollars.
