Police say a Vernon woman was the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash on Hwy 97 in the South Okanagan. The 52 year old was a passenger on a bike with her 60 year old husband. Their Harley Davidson lost control while travelling northbound around a hairpin curve along Vaseux Lake south of Okanagan Falls around 7 Wednesday night. The pair were then run over by a southbound SUV. The woman died, while the man suffered moderate injuries and was taken to hospital. Names have not been released. RCMP say speed was a factor. That part of the highway is posted at 80 KPH, but there is a posted cautionary speed advisory sign of 40 KPH at the curve.
