Drugged up driver darkens Vernon

Many Vernon residents were in the dark thanks to an impaired driver on Wednesday evening. A vehicle slammed into a hydro pole around 7 p.m. on August 31, cutting power to over 2,500 homes.  BC Hydro reported that the area west of Aberdeen road to east of Upperon Road and South of 20 Avenue were without power until 10:30 p.m.  RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says it was a single vehicle that hit the pole and no other vehicles were involved.  "The woman  who was driving was cleared medically by ambulance at the scene. She was issued a 24 hour suspension for drug impairment," says Molendyk.
