Fire Protection At What Cost - Commonage residents will have a say

Fire trucks from the BX could be making the 20 minute trip across the city to provide fire protection in the Commonage. Regional District Chair, Herman Halvorson staff will be directed to set up a public information meeting to look at the service coming from the BX Firehall, but he expects nothing to happen till there is a department at Predator Ridge. Vernon Mayor Wayne Lippert says it involves about 90 properties and says if the area was to join the city they'd have fire protection as soon as they were annexed, but because the area is not within the city they can't just provide the service. Lippert says the study is wrapping up and a firehall could be built at Predator Ridge next year.

Very Interesting.
If these properties were annexed, then Vernon would have a portion of Kalamalka Lake shore in the City. With that would come more say about Kal Lake as a source of water, as well as more responsibility.
I wonder if the Mayor's annexation plans would include the Commonage Septage Composting plant?
