There's been a happy ending to the hunt for a 75 year old man in the hills north of Grindrod. About 9 this morning he was located, in good shape, and reunited with his family. The RCMP's Gord Molendyk says it was a Mountie who located the Enderby man. "The dog team stayed out overnight and was out first thing this morning and located the man on the edge of a clearing." A police helicopter picked the man up and took him to where his family was waiting. The 75 year old had been missing overnight after failing to meet a friend after checking on cattle salt licks yesterday. The search by Vernon S & R involved 20 members, the RCMP helicopter and two police dog handlers.

Emergency personnel are looking for a man missing in the Grindrod area. Search and Rescue first responded to reports of a
75-year-old man lost on Park Mountain near Enderby just after 5 p.m.
Tuesday. The concern at the time was that temperatures were dropping. As of 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, Search and Rescue was
regrouping to continue the search for the man in an area 25 kilometres
up Zeddergreen Road, which is six kilometres north of Grindrod. “He was with a friend checking out salt-licks for the
cattle in the area and when the friend returned to the vehicle at the
meet-up time, he was missing,” states a Search and Rescue press release. “The friend stayed with the vehicle for some time and
when he did not return, he contacted the RCMP. The male is familiar with
the area as he has been going to the same area for approximately 10
years.” Along with Search and Rescue, RCMP dog handlers and a police helicopter are on scene.
