At least two people in the North Okanagan have been caught in a debit card scam by a woman
going door-to-door. RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the suspect
said she was collecting donations for back-to-school bags for less
fortunate youth. Molendyk says the victims used their debit cards on a
wireless terminal that was not what it seemed. ``A trojan terminal was
able to store the data from the magnetic strip on their cards and also
store their pin numbers,'' explains Molendyk. He says both victims had
over one thousand dollars each electronically removed from their bank
accounts. It's believed the culprits may have moved on. Both incidents
occurred earlier this month. Molendyk says bank security as well as the
RCMP are involved in the investigation. He says both are asking people
to watch transactions on their bank accounts and to report any
unauthorized activity immediately.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
