Spall Council Supports Mega Swan Lake Corridor Project - Mayor says sewer system would bring in new business

More than four-million dollars sitting in the North Okanagan Regional District's gas tax fund should be spent servicing the Swan Lake Corridor, according to Spall's mayor. Will Hansma says that's the recommendation of council. Hansma says the corridor, stretching down Highway 97 between Vernon and Spall, needs a proper sewer system to attract commercial interests. ``I think we should get it all together and put that system in there so we can encourage more growth along the Swan Lake corridor,'' says Hansma. ``That's what's hindering it right now.'' He says businesses, such as the Four Squires Pub, have to rely on holding tanks. The mayor also says a proper sewer system would help resolve the issue of faulty septic systems. ``There're issues with the liquid waste going into BX Creek and Swan Lake. It is going down in there whether people like to admit it or not,'' says the mayor. He says the project would benefit the entire region.
