The Vernon School District's final numbers are in - and they're down a total of 124 students from their projections. Superintendent,
Bev Rundell says the majority are in elementary school. In total, the
district is down 124 students, but 77 are elementary pupils. She says
that is of concern to the district, when they see reductions like that
in elementary school, because they feed the system for the next 12
years. Rundell says one impact seems to be the closing of the glassplant,
with 30 fewer students at Lavington Elementary. She says staffing
shouldn't be impacted due to funding protection.
