As
the clock counts down to next month's municipal elections, a proposed
provincial correctional facility remains the big issue in Lumby.
Solictor General Shirley Bond has told SUN FM says work continues but
she is not yet in a position to confirm an announcement date at this
time. Lumby mayoralty candidate Janet Green remains supportive of the
jail and she questions candidates who are opposed. Green is running
against incumbent mayor Kevin Acton who also supports a prison, but she
says they have some "philosophical differences.'' Mayoralty candidate Jim McEwan has expressed some concern over the
idea of a big correctional facility in Lumby. McEwan, has stated he is
not in favour of a prison based on the information he has right now.
