Coldstream council is looking at changes to it's two fire departments in the wake of the pending resignations of a chief and deputy chief.  Chief Dave Sturgeon and his deputy Luke Lecavalier -- who are both their 20's-- will leave their Coldstream positions in January, concerned about the time commitment and some political issues. The fire officials are upset an earlier request for a paid, full time fire chief, was not acted on by council. Mayor Jim Garlick says council will try to address the issues. Garlick tells KISS FM, "How do we make the job do-able as fire chief?  We don't want to have a person in that position that feels they can't do the job, or nobody wanting to come forward to do it." Garlick says solutions include either paying for the job, or backing the officials up by taking on some of the work through public works or another position. Garlick says council has budgeted six thousand dollars each, for the Coldstream and Lavington halls that the chiefs can pay themselves, or other members of the department, to do the work.
