For
the two mayoralty candidates running against incumbent Wayne Lippert,
the economy has turned out to be the big issue. Businessman Patrick
Davies says he is getting alot of foot traffic in his massive campaign
headquarters at the corner of Highway 97 and 30th Avenue. ``The economy
is on their mind,'' says Davies. ``They want to keep their families
close and they want their kids...to come and work and stay here if they
can.'' Doctor Rob Sawatsky says the economy and City spending are
intertwined in voters' minds. ``The perception is that spending and the
amount of people in our City administration are out of control relative
to the reality of the economy,'' says Sawatsky.
