For the fourth time in as many days, there's been a robbery attempt in Vernon, and this latest one was successful. A man entered the Husky gas station in the 45-hundred block of 27th Street around 8 Sunday night. He was wearing a balaclava type ski mask and a hoodie, and said to the female clerk, "This is a robbery." He was given some cash, and fled on a bicycle. Witnesses say he headed west on 45th Avenue and then turned south. The suspect is described as 5 foot 5, in his 40's, with a slim build. Police spokesman Gord Molendyk says there are similarities with
three attempted robberies Thursday and Friday, although this suspect was
shorter, and no weapon was produced. "That makes it four now where there are some similarities although
the height is off on this one. We're going to be doing some checks to
see if we can get a little better description." Sunday's night's incident was the first of the four where the suspect left with some cash. The Vernon Lodge cold beer and wine store was the target of an
attempted robbery Thursday night, followed by one at Corner Grocery on
Okanagan Landing Road Friday night, and the attempted theft of some
liquor from a delivery person on 39th Avenue, also Friday night.
