OTTAWA — Canadian annual inflation held steady at 2.9 percent and
core inflation was at 2.1 percent in November, with the core number
slightly undershooting forecasts, according to Statistics Canada data
released on Tuesday. Both the overall consumer price index and the core index, which strips out volatile items, rose by 0.1 percent on the month. The
overall numbers matched the median predictions in a Reuters survey of
analysts. They had, however, expected core inflation of 2.2 percent on
the year and 0.2 percent on the month, in each case 0.1 point more than
the actual result.

Don Quixote Note: The November Total CPI number is the one used for calculations in the Next year City's budget. For the 2012 budget this will be 2.9%.
