RCMP have shut down a drug house in a Mission Hill neighborhood, and posted it under the city of Vernon's drug bylaw. Police were called to the home in the 4700 block of Valley view Place Monday night on a complaint about an insecure premise. They entered through an open door and found a marijuana grow- op in
the basement, along with large quantity of cocaine, ecstasy, a handgun,
and cash. RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says there was no one inside at the time, and police continue to investigate suspects and charges. "Police have not made any arrests yet in relation to the items
seized. They continue with this investigation and hope to lay charges in
the near future." Molendyk says officers also found electrical and water bypasses. "This is another example of a grow operation in the middle of a
neighborhood. The RCMP would like to remind the public if you see
suspicious activity or suspect a possible grow operation in your
neighborhood to contact us. We want to remind that public as part of our
strategic priorities for the area is to combat this type of drug
activity."
