Sewer Rates Up In Coldstream

Coldstream signSewer users in Coldstream will have a hike in the coming year despite opposition from Councillor Gyula Kiss.  Mayor Jim Garlick tells KISS FM, "Councillor Kiss was wanting to see more of a user pay rate than what we have, but it was sort of done at the last moment." Garlick says the majority of council felt they needed to stay with the current structure for a while, noting three changes in rates and structure the last few years. The new basic rate will see users paying 94 dollars per quarter for the basic rate (10 cubic meters consumption), an increase of five dollars or six percent, which includes 20 cubic meters free, and then a surcharge for use above that. For 30 CM, it will cost $131.75, up $8.26  quarter. At the high end, users of 110 CM will pay $332.55 per quarter, an increase of $24.26.
