The Liberal government is planing a panel to look at taxation and revenue, something that could limit local government's ability to tax commercial and industrial facilities. Coldstream mayor Jim Garlick says with the province's record of downloading on municipalities, things like water improvements, arts and culture, it's a real concern. He says "And when we turn around and ask for hospital beds we're told well it's too expensive and they won't provide it, and then they're gonna limit how we can gain revenue to pay for these things that they're going to download" A further worry is there is no current provision for municipal participation
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
