Emergency crews are on the scene of an ice rescue on Wood Lake near
Ponderosa Road to find a man in his 40s who has fallen through the ice. The man was riding his bike on the ice at 10:30 this morning when he stopped to talk with two fishermen. The anglers say the man rode away, then they heard a cry for help and saw the biker fall through the ice. The pair ran to get a rope but when they returned, they could not find the biker. The Kelowna and Lake Country ice rescue teams are poking holes in the ice hoping to find the man. The RCMP dive team has also been called, and police are saying the man is presumed to be drowned. The incident has led to a major traffic back on the two lane part of Highway 97 along Wood Lake in Lake Country.
