The B.C. government is considering training and relocating welfare recipients to the province's north and Interior. Environment Minister Terry Lake admits the government has done little study, and he's not sure how many people will actually take the government up on the offer. However, he argues it's a common-sense plan that has the potential to solve two problems: finding those on welfare a job and filling much-needed positions. Lake says no one would be forced to enter such a program. New Democrat Leader Adrian Dix says the government's cuts to skills training over the years has left a gap between skills and jobs, creating the jobs-without-people problem.
