It's the time of year when more cyclists are on local roads, but some of them could face penalties for breaking the law. RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says riders without helmets have been getting warnings from Mounties and bylaw officers so far, but a fine could also be issued. "Quite often what we see which is quite frustrating is the kids have helmets on but the parents don't, so the parents are not setting a very good example." Molendyk says
the fine for not wearing a bike helmet is 30 dollars, and that's for adults or children.
