Kelowna meters pass loonie test

Despite warnings from the Royal Canadian Mint that the new 'lighter' loonie may not work in all coin operated machines, it appears parking meters in Kelowna are good to go. City of Kelowna Communications Supervisor, Tom Wilson, says bylaw officers have been testing the new loonies on a number of the 900 odd street meters and 60 ticket dispensing parking machines. Wilson says because not all meters are of the same vintage, tests have been conducted on several different models. (more)
