A number of area residents have been suggesting the rebuild of Old Kamloops road and the water line installation would be a great time to put in a bike-pedestrian walkway. Vernon mayor Rob Sawatzky agrees but says it wasn't on the table at budget discussion time. He says "Staff is going to present to us exactly how this repaving would fit into their schedule of the ongoing infrastructure renewal." He says had they known and been planning, they could have been putting a rudimentary, unfinished , unpaved path on top of the irrigation pipe
