Coldstream's new mechanical shop has all it's approvals, including the winning contractor to build it. The district's voters approved building a new shop and clearing up environmental issues in a 1.33 million dollar referendum last fall. Mayor Jim Garlick says there isn't a firm date for Sawchuck Developments of Kelowna to start the main building but local crews have the site already well prepared. He says, "Work on the site, we have begun ourselves with our own work crews, so a building was taken down, some of the grounds were graded and some buildings were moved." As well new water and sewer lines have been put in. Sawchuck was lowest of seven bidders at just under 800 thousand dollars, a bid the mayor says will allow the municipality some wiggle room. "The tender came in at 20% under what we budgeted, so that's good. It gives us a cushion for other works we have in there, the environmental work." The new shop will be located off Aberdeen Road, just behind Coldstream's municipal hall.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
