Louis wins second term as Okanagan Indian Band chief

LouisByron.jpgVoter turnout was just over 42% in Tuesday's election for the Okanagan Indian Band.  Chief Byron Louis was returned for a second two year term along with a ten member council. Louis drew 256 votes, his closest challenger, former chief  Fabian Alexis received 132, another former chief Dan Wilson had 129, and Bernadine Marchand had 58.

The ten councillors elected were Alan Louis (311 votes), Leland Wilson (293), Timothy Isaac (260), Diana Louis (251), Homer Alexis (249), Coola Louis (247), Raymond Marchand (242), Lyle Brewer (228), Russell Williams (220), and Barbara Cole (215).
