Police are in the process of investigating a homicide involving two elderly men at a Vernon seniors facility. RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says officers were called to a report
of an assault at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital extended care facility at
11 Sunday night. "Our officers learned, one of the residents, 95 years of age had
assaulted his roommate, an 85 year old man. The 85 year old victim
succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The suspect has been taken into
custody while we conduct a homicide investigation," says Molendyk. Police are working with Interior Health on the probe, with no other details being released. "We're not going to get into (details) at this time because our
officers are starting to conduct an investigation. It's not very often
you have people at this age (involved), and we're investigating a
homicide, so it's a very sad case," says Molendyk. Interior Health says it will have an update for media later today.
