RCMP made several arrests after taking action on a suspected drug house near Vernon's downtown area. Officers used a search warrant on a home in the 2700 block of 35th Street Thursday, following up on concerns from residents and businesses about high volumes of traffic in the area. A 31 year old Vernon man was arrested on a trafficking warrant from an undercover operation in September. He will also be facing new charges of possession of cocaine and meth for the purpose of trafficking, and weapons charges. A 29 year old man who also lived there and arrived while officers were still in the residence and was arrested. He is expected to face charges of possession of stolen property found that was recovered in the residence, he was released on a Promise to Appear. "A third man 28 years of age was arrested and released for violating court ordered prohibition and was found in possession of a prohibited weapon," says RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. A 17 year old female was taken from the residence and turned over to her parents. Several other people at the house were released without any charges. Also seized in the house was trafficking paraphernalia and about $1,000 cash. "Our officers are continuing to investigate this file and further charges are possible," Sgt Dave Evans said. "This is another example of how Vernon Detachment takes complaints from the citizens and local businesses seriously and are committed to investigating drug trafficking at all levels."
