RDNO Sentencing For Tainted Water Case

Written by Peter McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM Thursday, 12 December 2013 06:00
The Regional District of North Okanagan is expected to find out its penalty in a tainted water case today. The district was found guilty in September of four charges under the BC Water and Water Protection Acts, after a judge ruled officials didn't do enough to prevent contamination of the Antwerp Springs well in Coldstream in January 2010. The judge delayed sentencing in the case in October, wanting to clarify comments he heard on the radio from an RDNO official he felt showed indifference to his ruling. Judge Mayland McKimm is expected to impose a fine on the district, perhaps the same as the $18,400 Coldstream received when it pled guilty to similar charges last year.
