Update: RDNO Sentencing Put Off For Tainted Water Case

Sentencing has been put off for the Regional District of North Okanagan on it's water contamination case. The lawyer representing the crown is involved in a murder trial in Kamloops so the case is now off to December 18th to set a new sentencing date. The district was found guilty in September of four charges under the BC Water and Water Protection Acts, after a judge ruled officials didn't do enough to prevent contamination of the Antwerp well in Coldstream almost three years ago. The judge delayed sentencing in the case in October, wanting to clarify comments he heard on the radio from an RDNO official he felt showed indifference to his ruling. Judge Mayland McKimm is expected to impose a fine on the district, perhaps the same as the $18,400 Coldstream received when it pled guilty to similar charges last year.
