City Signs Lease For Predator Ridge Firehall

Residents of Predator Ridge should be getting improved fire protection by this fall. The city has signed a long term lease with the resort, allowing for a new 600-thousand dollar fire station to go ahead once the contract is awarded. Fire chief Keith Green says it should open by the fall below the main entrance, near a golf hole. "I think it's going to be a signature building for the community when they drive in an see a fire station there, and probably be comforting for people in an inter-face area to know there's resources and manpower en route." Green says fire calls will be handled by three or four paid on-call volunteers who live at the resort, along with a crew responding from the downtown main station. "And then we'll just slowly build our paid on-call base with the availability of people that are willing to help out there." The station will be equipped with a fire engine and water tender. Green says the current response time from downtown is 20 minutes to the resort, which they hope will improve once the station gets going. "It depends on the availability of the people up there." The city's lease with Predator is for 999 years, costing $10, with an option for another 999 year term.

Don Quixote Note: With a 4 year municipal election cycle this approx.  2000 year  lease (including 999 year option) will be in effect for the next 500 Councils' lifespan.
