The local trio of Vernon RCMP officer Nick Reimann, Auxiliary Constable Peter Foodikoff, and jail guard Kevin Lane were among the Cops For Kids Ride team that completed a 10 day, 1,000 km cycling journey across South Eastern BC. The annual event raises money and awareness for local children in medical, physical and traumatic crisis, for medical equipment, therapies, travel to Children's Hospital, learning & mobility aids. "This was such a rewarding experience," said Foodikoff. "We knew it was going to be physically challenging, but we had no idea how good it feels to know that our short-term pain really makes a difference for children who are struggling." This year the team raised a record $260,000, and since 2001 have garnered over $2.7 million in support. "To actually see the difference we're making to these families who are struggling, makes me want to work even harder for next year. I can't wait to be a part of the 2015 team," added Reimann.
