VERNON - A man accused of stealing from peoples’ boats, cars and garages was stopped in his tracks by the Vernon RCMP’s dog unit over the long weekend. Police received a report of a suspicious man going through cars and yards in the Cranberry Lane area of Middleton Mountain Monday, May 18. One caller reported the man was eyeing bikes and vehicles and peering through house windows near her home, RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says. Police received several calls about the same man. Police, along with the K9 unit were dispatched to the area and located a 32-year-old man who was arrested for theft. Police received six separate complaints about the man, who has already appeared in court and been released on conditions. “Most of the items were recovered and returned to the owners,” Molendyk says.
