Major Changes to GVSC
The Greater Vernon Services Commission has lost some of its powers. The regional district board has adopted a bylaw to remove the delegated authority of theGVSC. Only Vernon director Pat Cochrane was opposed. Under the new plan, the GVSC will be a committee of the regional district. It will be able to make recommendations to NORD, but no final decisions. The GVSC deals with water, parks and economic development issues.(Pete McIntyre)

New NORD Chariman
Armstrong's mayor is the new leader of the NORD board. Jerry Oglow was elected chairman of the regional board after a secret vote among the 13 members. Oglow takes over from Area C's Stan Field who had been the chair the last seven years. Vernon mayor Wayne Lippert is the new vice chair after winning a vote against rural Lumby director Rick Fairbairn. The positions run for one year.(Pete McIntyre)
