GVSC Has No Power

http://www.vernon.thesun.net/node/449133
The power struggle should now be over. That late last night from Vernon Mayor Wayne Lippert. Vernon council met in-camera for several hours yesterday morning, then the issue of the future of Greater Vernon Services was hashed out for several more hours at the North Okanagan Regional District meeting. Lippert says in the end they voted to remove the delegated authority from the Greater Vernon Services Commission and the Electoral Area Services Commission. He says they will still function as committees and there will be no reduction in staff, who have always been NORD employees. There will also be a review of services that will be done by early spring. NORD directors have also voted in a new chair, Armstrong Mayor Jerry Oglow takes over from long time chair, Stan Field.
