Kelowna International Airport (YLW) rates highly with Vernon-area residents and visitors. An airport survey conducted in August by InterVISTAS Consulting found that Vernon area residents gave YLW a higher rating — 4.40 out of 5.0 — than residents of Victoria, Regina, Fredericton and Yellowknife gave their airports. Vernon residents gave the airport only a slightly lower rating than Kelowna residents. Visitors to Vernon gave YLW a rating of 4.46.Both Vernon and Kelowna passengers awarded high scores for ground transportation and parking. The North Okanagan passengers awarded higher satisfaction scores than Kelowna residents for seven out of 10 terminal operations, including safety, security and courtesy of staff. Residents of Greater Vernon comprise six per cent of traffic at YLW, or 60,000 passengers annually. “Greater Vernon remains an important market for Kelowna International Airport,” said airport general manager Roger Sellick.
