Vernon's Mounties will be hitting the pavement from now on.

Corporal Henry Proce says, foot patrols in the Downtown core began Monday.
A bylaw officer will accompany the Mounties and will patrol 7 days a week for about 5 hours a day. Proce says the foot patrols will create more visibility downtown which will hopefully put the pressure the criminal activity which goes on in the area. He says they are aimed at changing public perception and keeping an eye on what's going on downtown. The Downtown Vernon Association hired Commissionaires, who will continue their patrols of the downtown core for at least another 4 months.
