Halfway house public consultation put on hold.

In an unanimous 5-0 vote (Lippert and Gilroy absent) the City of Vernon told Corrections Canada that any future plans for a halfway house should be put on hold. The future of this facility in Vernon could only resume after the Corrections Canada report and the RCMP report on the Abramenko death were made available to the Council (and presumably the Public) .

The trial of the accused Eric Fish was not originally scheduled until Jan of 2008 and there will be a subsequent trial for the murder of Jeffrey Drake to follow. Corrections Canada and the RCMP have indicated that they can not release these reports until after these trials.
