Up to $300,000 per year will be made available by the Okanagan Basin Water Board for this assistance program. Individual grants will be $3000 minimum and $30,000 maximum.
Total grant amounts available for each region are determined by the percentage share paid by that region in the annual Water Board requisition. Of the $300,000 allocated, the 2007/08 funding eligibility by region would be:
Regional District of North Okanagan $57,900 ($300,000 x 19.3%)
Regional District of Central Okanagan $176,100 ($300,000 x 58.7%)
Regional District of Okanagan–Similkameen $66,000 ($300,000 x 22%)

5.1 OKANAGAN BASIN WATER BOARD – BOARD REPORT
Dr. Sears reported that the OBWB had another session regarding strategic planning. The strengths of the Water Board were discussed and it was agreed that the Water Stewardship Council gives great value to the OBWB. She also noted that the Budget for 2007 – 2008 was passed and that there is an additional $200,000.00 that will be added to the small grants program which will bring total monies available to the program to $500,000.00.
- In 2008 the total to be paid by the NORD Taxpayers will be $666,955 up from $617,465 in 2007. Vernon's share in 2008 of $402,055 up from $359,215 in 2007. (Increase of $42,840 or 11.9%).
- The Okanagan Basin Water Board function submits their requirements to the 3 regional districts in the Valley and the amount required from each Board is charged the participating partners.
Don Quixote Note: Using last year's percentage borne out by this years grant we can conclude that the OBWB total budget from Regional Districts only (excluding grants from other levels of senior government etc.)is: $3,455,725 in 2008.
