RCMP have set up a satellite office next to the People Place building in Vernon in an effort to increase police visibility. Gord Molendyk with the RCMP says, their intent is not to discourage people from using the services in the area like the Upper Room Mission. "Our intent is to disrupt some of the criminal activity, that's what we're looking at." Molendyk says, police will be monitoring the criminal activity such as drug trafficking and sex trade workers and taking action if necessary. The mobile command post is on loan from Kelowna RCMP.
