Mail in votes allowed for November elections

107.5 KISSFM

Absentee voting by mail will be permitted in this year's civic elections in B-C. Provincial rule changes will allow mail-in ballots from registered voters who will be absent for advance polls or the November 15th election day. The move is an attempt to increase participation from so-called ``snowbirds'' -- retirees who move south in the fall to avoid B-C's chilly winters. Registration for a mail-in ballot is still being arranged and the timeline will be very tight -- in part because ballots can't be printed until after civic nominations close, just one month before polling day.
