Westside Roads Development Cost Charges:

Westside Council took the first step in approving the District of Westside’s first Roads Development Cost Charge Bylaw. These charges, borne by the developer, assist the District in paying the capital cost of providing sewer, water, roads and parkland. If approved, the roads component of the Development Cost Charge for the development of a single detached home will be $12,188/dwelling, $9,141/dwelling for multiple unit housing. The bylaw received first and second reading and will be back in front of Council July 22, 2008 for further consideration. The move will allow Council to move ahead with its 20 Year Development Cost Charges Road Program which outlines $110 million in Westside road improvement projects. The proposed bylaw and supporting documents are available for public viewing and comment at the District of Westside offices and on the website at www.districtofwestside.ca. Cut off for public comments is July 25, 2008 at 4:30 p.m.
