Adopt an outhouse: $42,000

B.C.'s environment ministry has taken a page from municipal parks managers, inviting the public to sponsor benches and picnic tables with personalized plaques. It's not cheap. A bench will cost $3,000, including installation, dedication plaque and 10 years of maintenance. A picnic table is $4,000. If that's too rich, you can sponsor a bundle of five trees for $25, 10 trees for $50, up to 300 trees for $1,000. The trees are to replace those cut down for safety reasons due to pine beetle infestation. For a more ambitious contribution, consider a solar heating system for a shower building at $15,000. Or the Cadillac of B.C. Parks dedications, a Phoenix composting toilet with lifetime maintenance for $42,000.

The environment ministry will consider applications in any provincial park, but each will be reviewed for ecological impact and some may not be accepted.Details of the program can be found at www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/sponsorship/

Do you think there is a place to put this outhouse..Ottawa? Victoria?.....do you think the politicians will notice the public is above them? The public door and name should face the other way..that way the politicians would never know....and they wouldn't run away when they see the public around.
