Lake City Casino is once again trying to get the city's support to start serving liquor earlier. The casino is currently allowed to start at 1pm after a council decision earlier this month, but consultant Bert Hick says they want it at 9am or 11 am to catch the lunch-time crowd. Mayor Wayne Lippert says council will debate the request at its next meeting, and he sees some reason to make it earlier. Lippert says, "Personally I suspect council will look at that and reconsider that. I'm not confident it would go to 9 o'clock in the morning, but I could see possibly some movement for (allowing it) over the lunch hour." The RCMP had earlier concerns the morning opening could lead to "over consumption", but Hick says most customers are there to play the games, not drink.
