Vernon city council members will be putting in long hours to produce this year's budget. The first of two all day sessions is being held today at City Hall. Council members will get summaries of service level adjustments requested from the various departments including the RCMP and Fire Rescue. There's also opportunities for public input at 11:30 and 3:30. There will be another similar meeting on Friday also from 8:30 to 4:30. Staff have prepared the budget with a zero percent increase, and several council members including Mayor Wayne Lippert have stated they would like to see the final budget come in with no tax hike or a decrease.
