Calculate your 2010 water rates.

Coldstreamer has an interesting Posting.

Predicting the effects of water rate increases for 2010.

To calculate your own costs visit mywaterrates and replace the red values with your own quarterly consumption values (m3 on your water bill).
--------------------

Don Quixote Note: I used the calculator and my water rates based on my 2009 consumption will increase by $60.58 or 15.3%
-------------
It appears that:
  • the major change is that they hiked the base rate (access fee) from $29.15 to $50.20 per quarter and made the first 20 cubic meters free. (This will capture revenue even from the water users who only reside within our community on a part time basis -The 'shadow' community)
  • This is how I figure it must be calculated. 29.15 (2009 access fee) +18.40 (for 20 liters at .92 put in base) +2.62 (9%of 29.15 ) =50.17 (close enough)
  • rate on cubic meters used above the 20 included in access fee (Base) will be increased from 84 cents to 92 cents. (9.5%)
  • the rate in the 3rd quarter (July, August, Sept.) is calculated at $1.10 per cubic meter (31% quarterly increase). This is ONLY for the 3rd quarter and I guess that this is to encourage conservation by persuading people to water their lawns etc in a careful manner.
The Coldstreamer made some sample calculations as follows:
Selected six models as examples of cost increases as follows:
Low consumption: single person using 20 m3 of water quarterly (11% increase);
Low consumption: couple using 40 m3 of water quarterly (12% increase);
Moderate consumption: family of four (no outside use) (14% increase);

Moderately high consumption: couple with garden (21% increase);

Moderately high consumption: family of four with garden (27% increase), and

High consumption: family of four with large garden (27% increase).
